As the President Pakistan Society of Clinical Oncology (PSCO) it is indeed a matter of immense pleasure and honor to welcome all the national and international participants toPSCO conference 2017 being held at Faisalabad from 31st March to 2nd April. Faisalabad well known as Manchester of Pakistan is hub of textile industry contributing over 20% towards Pakistan annual GDP.
PSCO is regularly organizing conferences on annual basis with the aim of providing forum for local and foreign experts and budding oncologists to share their knowledge and results of research and thus trying to bring further improvement in the treatment of cancer. The conference is not only attended by oncologists but also by experts from other medical specialties.
Cancer treatment is a dynamic and rapidly evolving field and thus keeping oncologists abreast of latest innovations in the fields of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and targeted therapy is of pr
me importance. Moreover cancer treatment is not the domain of single specialty. In this modern era nobody can treat a cancer patient sitting in isolation. Successful treatment of this devastating disease is possible only by making common consensus in multidisciplinary meetings which at the moment are being held in only a few cancer hospitals of Pakistan. This year’s conference theme “Cancer Prevention to Cure”rightly focuses on the importance of creating awareness for adopting healthy lifestyle and dietary habits thus helping in cancer prevention. Cancer is no more an untreatable disease. It can not only be treated but can be cured as well if detected at an early stage.
I must salute all my friends in organizing committee who under supervision of Dr Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah and Dr Muhammad Khalid have worked day and night and have put their zealous and untiring efforts to hold the conference.
I hope the event proves to be successful and will provide a real great platform for exchanging and utilizing the latest modes of treatment of cancer in future.
I wish all the participants pleasant and happy stay in Faisalabad.
